Waterbabies

Approx 4mths - 2.6yrs

The Waterbabies 1 program is designed to introduce babies 4 months old to 18 months old to the water and water safety in a fun way using songs and water toys. Every aspect of the class incorporates water safety with the assistance of the parent/caregiver in the pool. As the child progresses in age throughout Waterbabies 1, we may start to encourage the parent to allow the child to do some activities without assistance. We do this to get the child ready for Waterbabies 2.

The Waterbabies 2 program is designed for toddlers 18 months to 2.6 years. In this class we still use the water safety elements, songs and toys introduced in Waterbabies 1 but we are starting to encourage a lot more independence to ready the child for our Duckies class. In Waterbabies 2 we start to teach children to be able to turn around and get back to the wall unassisted when they jump in and to be able to do a star float without assistance. The more the parent is willing to encourage the child the more they are going to get out of this class.

Swim fins are required in this class, fins should not be diving fins or short fins but fins with an enclosed foot. Seaton Swim Centre stocks a variety of fins.
We recommend bathing caps for boys and girls with long hair.
Board shorts and/or rashies are not recommend as this reduces the child’s flexibility and adds extra weight as water is retained in both.

FAQs

Do Your Swimming Programs Run by Terms?

Our swimming programs run all year round; we close for Easter, Public Holidays and for a short break over Christmas. We believe this is important for a child to achieve results they should be regularly enrolled in swimming lessons. Most children take swimming lessons once a week and our program allows staff to monitor your child’s progress and promote to the next level when they have achieved their current goals.

What is Your Payment Structure?

We have a variety of options so we can be as flexible as possible for our customers.

Monthly

This option offers benefits including, permanent booking for your preferred day and time, pay only once per month and receive a makeup voucher if you are unable to attend a swimming lesson.

Casual

If you can’t come to swimming lessons at a regular time each week or would like to try us for the first time this option may suit you. Simply contact your local school and see if they have a spot available at a convenient time. When using casual payment you do not have a permanent spot.

When & How Often will my child be Assessed?

As our swimming program is ongoing, swimmers are constantly being evaluated by our instructors. As soon as they are ready for the next level they will be reviewed by the lesson Supervisor. This gives swimmers the time they need to master the skills and make sure they do not stay in a class they have outgrown.

How will my child’s progress be assessed?

While other swimming schools run age-based classes with only one opportunity a term to progress, we assess swimmers continuously. This means on-deck supervisors monitor swimmers at every class, so swimmers progress when they’re ready – whether that’s after two weeks or two months.

What happens if we cannot attend a lesson?

We understand life is sometimes hard to plan – especially with children- that’s why with our monthly booking systemwe offer Make-Up Vouchers. If you cannot make your class, use your online account to cancel your lesson, and you’ll automatically receive a Make-Up Voucher to rebook. Make up Vouchers are valid for 3 months and cannot be used in lieu of monthly fees.
